Ref. No. 1205/42-504

In the name of Allah the most Gracious the most Merciful]

The answer to your question is as follows:

There maybe two ways to seek help from anyone other than Allah. (1) Believing that he has the absolute power to do whatever he wants. This is polytheism and disbelief. In the same way, in the case of non-God, if it is believed that God has given him all the authority and he can do whatever he wants then this is also shirk which is unlawful and haram. Only Allah Almighty has the power to fulfill all needs of a person. He is the one and only who can ease the difficulty and grant the desires of all creatures.

(2) Seeking help from the people in the affairs that can normally be fulfilled by human beings. There is nothing wrong in the same.

Nevertheless saying ‘Ya Ghaus-al-Madad or Ya Ali-al-Madad’ is shirk. It must be avoided.
