Assalam u alaikum

I want to ask if it is permissable to use things for protection from pregnancy ??
Like there are many things including one I have heard (a ring) which is used by doctors to protect woman from getting pregnant ?
I want to know if it is Halaal and allowed according to our Shariah ?
