I am blessed with a daughter this week Alhamdulillah. I am planning to name my beloved daughter Zunaira Arwa Fatima. These are the names of Sahabiyyah. However I have come to know that the name Zunaira is not the proper pronunciation and it has no real meaning in Arabic name. Please advise.

The correct pronunciation in English is Zinneerah (Zaa with Kasra, Noon with Tashdeed and Kasra, Yaa sakin, then Raa with Fat’ha and finally there is a haa). This was the name of a Sahabia. So the name is correct but I could not find its meaning in the dictionary. Moreover, the name zunaira is not correct. It can also be written ‘Zinnira’. (usudul Ghabah 7/124 No. 6948
