Question

I took a few thousand rupees from someone's shop a few years ago without telling him. He doesn't know it yet. Now I realize that I didn't do it right. If I tell him now, our relationship may be ruined. Besides, I should be very ashamed. So if I repent and slowly leave that money in his shop without telling him, will my sin still remain?

The answer to your question is as follows:

Even if the payment is made without informing the owner, the payment will be valid. And hopefully the sin will be removed. However, you should say to the shopkeeper, “If I have done anything wrong with you accidentally, please forgive me”. So in this way you will get his pardon.
