The word"office" first appeared in 1395, relating to a specific place where commercial business is usually carried out such as the "centre." However, the term has much Older roots, going back to the Latin word officialis, which did not refer to a specific administrative position but instead the more general definition of court official. " Official" has been a consistently used term for "office," and to give it particular legal meanings, like the office of the provincial attorney general and so on., even though in many states, this term has no legal authority. The "Law Society of Upper Canada" is the name of Canada's office of attorney general. The official name for the College of Pharmacy of British Columbia is the pharmacy office.
